Pro-Abortion Group Trying to Deceive Dioceses in Argentina

BUENOS AIRES, OCT. 8, 2002 (ZENIT.org-Aica).- A pro-abortion Canadian group is trying to infiltrate dioceses in Argentina, a Vatican official warns.

Cardinal Alfonso López Trujillo, president of the Pontifical Council for the Family, sent a note warning Archbishop Estanislao Esteban Karlic, president of the Argentine bishops' conference, that the Canadian Child Care Federation is trying to make inroads in several dioceses.

The cardinal said the Canadian group works with the International Planned Parenthood Federation, a leading abortion provider.

The cardinal said he heard from Bishop José Luis Mollaghan of San Miguel about "certain attempts on the part of the 'Canadian Child Federation' to seek the cooperation of some dioceses of the Buenos Aires metropolitan area" and adds that the dioceses should contact the episcopate if they are approached.

Bishop Mollaghan consulted the executive commission of the diocesan Caritas and decided last March to suspend a collaborative project with the Canadian group.
