A bit more about ZENIT:

The agency began in 1997 in Spanish and English. It is owned by a non-profit organization in New York, Innovative Media Inc.

ZENIT currently publishes in seven languages: Spanish, English, French, German, Portuguese, Italian and Arabic.

ZENIT news, designed above all to be a resource for communications media, is also distributed to some 450,000 private readers. Thousands of those are missionaries working in the world's poorest countries.

Communications agencies that use ZENIT number in the thousands and represent a variety of organizations: television and radio channels, newspapers and magazines, Web pages, diocesan and parish bulletins and newsletters.

ZENIT's mission is promoting Christian culture through professional, timely and complete coverage of events, documents and news from the Vatican or other important sources.

This mission responds to the ever growing need for information on religious themes. The ZENIT team makes a constant effort to cover these topics and offer a high-quality news agency.

Our international team is made up of journalists, translators, administrators, and technical support staff.

Our news service includes information on:

-- The activities of the Pope: apostolic trips, documents, meetings with heads of states and social, cultural and religious figures. We give particular emphasis to the activities of the Holy Father and his addresses.

-- Interviews with men and women of the Church, and political and social figures featuring topics of special interest.

-- The current international scene, with special emphasis on questions relevant to Christians and the life of the Catholic Church.

-- The activities of the Holy See, including diplomatic efforts, humanitarian initiatives and cultural events.

-- Social, political and religious topics at the center of public debate. Special attention is given to themes related to the defense of life and the family, social justice, bioethics, euthanasia, abortion, contraception, respect of human rights and religious freedom.
