The congress, or CONAJUM 2003, will take place from July 31 to Aug. 3 under the slogan “Youth of the New Millennium, Do Not Be Afraid to Carry the Gospel to the World!” according to Father Carlos Navarrete, of the national office of Pontifical Mission Societies in Mexico.

CONAJUM began as part of Missionary Congresses organized regularly by the Church in Mexico since 1942. The first CONAJUM was held 1982; it is held every three years.

The congress is preceded by a period of preparation at the diocesan level with preliminary congresses and other activities of missionary inspiration based on the CONAJUM 2003 working paper, prepared in accord with the American Missionary Congress, which will take place in November in Guatemala.
