2 Named to Historical-Sciences Panel

VATICAN CITY, MARCH 9, 2007 (Zenit.org).- Benedict XVI appointed two new members to the Pontifical Committee for Historical Sciences.

The Vatican Press office reported Thursday the appointments of Nelson Minnich, professor of Church history at the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., and David D’Avray, professor of medieval history at University College, London.

Minnich, the editor of the Catholic Historical Review, is the author of several books on the general councils and Erasmus.

D’Avray has written several books on the institution of matrimony and on preaching about marriage in the Middle Ages.
