44 Legionaries Ordained in Rome

ROME, DEC. 24, 2003 (Zenit.org).- Forty-four Legionaries of Christ were ordained to the priesthood during a Mass at their Center of Higher Studies in Rome.

The ordaining prelate was a fellow Legionary, Bishop Brian Farrell, secretary of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity.

The new priests come from the United States, Mexico, Austria, Germany, Spain, Italy, China, South Korea and Vietnam.

The Legion’s founder, Father Marcial Maciel, was present at the ordination Mass today. The Legion was founded in 1941. Active in 20 countries, it has more than 500 priests and more than 2,500 seminarians.
