Vatican Officials Express Condolences on Death of Albert Gänswein

Albert Gänswein, father of Archbishop Georg Gänswein, Prefect of the Pontifical Household, has passed away.

In an obituary published on today’s L’Osservatore Romano, officials from the Vatican’s Secretary of State offered their condolences to the German prelate.

“The superiors and officials of the Secretary of State wish to express their sincere condolences to H.E. Archbishop Georg Gänswein, Prefect of the Pontifical Household, for the death of his beloved father, Mr. Albert Gänswein and, in participating in his sorrow, assure prayers for dearly deceased and comfort for all his family members,” the statement read.

The Prefecture of the Pontifical Household also conveyed their closeness with Archbishop Gänswein and his family and expressed their “closeness in prayers to the Risen Lord.”
