Benedict XVI Poised for Midnight Mass

VATICAN CITY, DEC. 24, 2005 (Zenit.org).- Pilgrims and tourists were flocking to St. Peter’s Square ahead of Benedict XVI’s first Christmas Midnight Mass since becoming Pope.

Benedict XVI was preparing to celebrate the tradition Midnight Mass in St. Peter’s Basilica.

On Christmas Day at noon he is expected to deliver his Christmas message and bestow his blessing “urbi et orbi” (to the city of Rome and the world) at St. Peter’s Square.
