Cardinal Martino's Prayer for Peace

ROME, OCT. 23, 2003 (Zenit.org).- As a memento of his elevation to cardinal, Renato Martino, president of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace, composed and printed a prayer for peace.

The card, which the new cardinal handed out to relatives and friends, asks Mary, “Queen of Peace,” to infuse “wisdom and discernment in political leaders so that they will use their achievements in science and technology for human development that is respectful of creation, and for projects of justice, solidarity and peace.”

John Paul II’s former representative at the United Nations also asks the Blessed Virgin “to melt the ice of indifference that makes parents and children strangers.”
