Current cardinals and the 24 men who will be elevated to the college at the Nov. 20 consistory were invited to the reflection day in an Oct. 30 letter sent by Cardinal Angelo Sodano, dean of the college.
The day of reflection and prayer will be held Nov. 19, the eve of the consistory.
Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, the Pope’s secretary of state, will give an introductory talk to the first of the two themes: religious freedom in the world and new challenges.
The second theme, the liturgy in the life of the Church, will be introduced by Cardinal Antonio Cañizares Llovera, prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Sacraments.
Three additional contributions are scheduled for an afternoon session.
Archbishop Angelo Amato, prefect of the Congregation for Saints’ Causes, will speak on “10 Years After ‘Dominus Iesus.'”
And Cardinal William Levada, prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, will give two talks: one on the Church’s response to cases of sexual abuse and the other on the constitution “Anglicanorum Coetibus.”
