The conference is under the patronage of H.M. King Abdallah II and is entitled “Together in Defense of the Nation.”

A spokesman for the Council of Christian Churches in Jordan, Ekonomos Nabil Haddad of the Greek Melkite Catholic Church, announced the conference last Thursday.

The participants will debate ways to change the distorted images of Arabs and Muslims in the Western media.

The conference will promote Muslim-Christian unity and reaffirm the strong bonds between Christians and Muslims in Jordan.

High on the agenda, too, is the reason behind Christian emigration from Jerusalem and other holy cities. Christians comprise about 5% of Jordan 5 million people. About 300,000 live in Palestine and Jordan combined.
