The papal commission on the protection of minors is to have its next meeting Oct. 4-5, while the new commission on reforming Vatican media will hold its first meeting Sept. 22-24, the Vatican announced today.

In a press briefing, Vatican spokesman Father Federico Lombardi said the commission for the protection of minors will meet to discuss “important aspects” regarding statutes and further members of the commission. These will be “clarified” at the October meeting, Father Lombardi said.

Concerning the commission on Vatican media, chaired by Lord Patten of Barnes, the first meeting will be held from 22-24 September at the Domus Sanctae Marthae, Father Lombardi announced.

“As a first meeting, it will be dedicated primarily to drawing up a framework for the common base of information necessary to enable the work of the members (several of whom are from contexts external to the Vatican), the planning of the work to be done over the coming months, and the method to be used,” the spokesman explained, adding that because the commission will be establishing its own strategy of communication, no interviews or communications will be given prior to the meeting.
