ROME, Nov. 5, 2012 (Zenit.org).- The Fifth World Conference on Metaphysics, organized by the Idente Foundation for Study and Research, will be held in Rome at the ARSO Conference Center (Via Aurelia 773), November 8-10, 2012. This event, the only one of its kind, since its inception in 2000 has become an international forum for dialogue where representatives of the most varied academic disciplines can interact in a context of mutual enrichment, in both human and intellectual terms, which provides a stimulus in the search for the ultimate foundations of their respective fields.

Cardinal Zenon Grocholewski, Prefect of the Congregation for Catholic Education and Honorary President of the Conference; Archbishop Gerhard Ludwig Müller, Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith; Oscar Pujol, Director of the Cervantes Institute in Porto Alegre, Brazil; and Jesús Fernández Hernández, President of the Fundación Idente and the Conference, will be taking part in the event, whose official sponsors include the Congregation for Catholic Education, the Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja, the Rielo Institute for Integral Development, the Fernando Rielo Foundation, and the Fundación Idente para Estudios e Investigación.

The papers presented will deal with metaphysics—understood as the formulation of a valid conception of the absolute or ultimate reality—in relation to specific areas of human thought and action: anthropology, culture, economics, law, epistemology, mystical life, health, education, empirical sciences, ethics, politics, and the arts, in the pursuit of a paradigm which adequately accounts for all dimensions of reality.

Those interested may take part in a three-day Seminar after the Conference (November 12-14) devoted to The Renewal of Metaphysical and Mystical Perspectives: Social, Cultural, and Scientific Implications which will examine the relevance of Fernando Rielo’s contributions for contemporary thought.

The Idente Foundation for Study and Research is dedicated to promoting the integral education and realization of the person. It sees the Conference as a vehicle for exploring paths towards the renewal of Metaphysics so that, in the context of the twenty-first century, it may be regarded as a necessary foundation to provide all sciences with unity, direction, and meaning.
