Deadline Nears for Youth-Day Volunteers

COLOGNE, Germany, MAY 29, 2005 (Zenit.org).- World Youth Day organizers report that 25,000 volunteers have offered to help with the event in Cologne in August, and that registration will end Tuesday, May 31.

Volunteers must be 18 or older, and speak German or English.

After receiving the appropriate formation, volunteers will help in the various logistical aspects of the event that will bring together hundreds of thousands of young people, and be attended by Benedict XVI.

The World Youth Day office will provide free food, lodging and transportation within the city of Cologne. They will also be given a diploma, certifying the service rendered.
