The text, to be published Saturday, will focus on Christian anthropology, which proposes the personal equality between man and woman, and the need to overcome and eliminate any bias against their fundamental rights.

The Vatican press office announced today that the document was written by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith and has John Paul II’s approval.

According to Vatican sources, the “Letter to Bishops of the Catholic Church on the Cooperation of Man and Woman in the Church and in the World” responds to the “gender ideology,” which seeks to surmount alleged “biological determinism.”
