Envoy Named for World Day of the Sick

VATICAN CITY, DEC. 25, 2006 (ZENIT.org).- Benedict XVI has named Cardinal Javier Lozano Barragán his special envoy to the celebrations of World Day of the Sick that will take place in South Korea in February.

Cardinal Lozano Barragán, 73, is the president of the Pontifical Council for Health Care Ministry.

The 15th World Day will be held Feb. 11, the liturgical memorial of Our Lady of Lourdes, in Seoul, the Vatican press office noted in its announcement Saturday of the appointment.

The Pope published a message for World Day of the Sick earlier this month.
