Exhibition of Icons to Mark a Papal Anniversary

VATICAN CITY, SEPT. 29, 2003 (Zenit.org).- The Pontifical Council for Culture and the Austrian Embassy to the Vatican have given John Paul II the gift of an exhibition of modern icons for the 25th anniversary of his pontificate.

Cardinal Paul Poupard, president of the pontifical council, will open the exhibition Oct. 15 in the St. Callistus Palace, Vatican territory in the Roman neighborhood of Trastevere.

The works are signed by Austrian artist Anton Wollenk, known for his wooden bas-reliefs. The exhibition closes Nov. 9.
