The Vatican Congregation for the Causes of Saints has approved the introduction, at the diocesan level, of the cause of Irish-born Father Peyton, a pioneer in the field of radio and television communication.

Bishop Sean O´Malley of Fall River, Massachusetts, confirmed the decision to the Vidimus Dominum news service of religious communities in Rome.

Since 1947, Family Theater Productions, the company founded by Father Peyton, has produced more than 600 radio and television programs, with the participation of hundreds of celebrities, many of them from Hollywood.

Father Peyton, a great advocate of the rosary, died in 1992 at age 83. The petition for the opening of his process of beatification was presented in 1996 with the support of the Congregation of the Holy Cross.
