Pope Francis is pictured on the cover of the latest edition of the famous American magazine, Rolling Stone.

The Holy Father, who has been featured on the front of several famous and not so well known publications over the past few months, is pictured smiling with the caption: “The times, they are a-changin’.”

The magazine writes that through its own research, it aims to show “how the Pope struggled through dark times to emerge as the frontrunner for papacy” and presents the Pope “as a man tied to religious tradition on one hand and fighting to bring the Church into a new era with the other.”

“As the cover suggests, “The times, they are a-changin’,”” the magazine says.

Published every two weeks, Rolling Stone was founded in 1967 and focuses on politics and popular culture.

It caused controversy last year when it pictured on its front cover the prime suspect in the Boston bombings.
