The House on Thursday passed the bipartisan Human Cloning Prohibition Act by a vote of 241-155. Similar legislation has been introduced in the Senate.

“The House has shown great responsibility in acting to ban all human cloning,” said Knights of Columbus Supreme Knight Carl Anderson. “The vote clearly reflects the views of the majority of Americans who reject human cloning for any reason.”

“Cloning is the manipulation and manufacture of human beings for use as mere means for others’ ends,” added the head of the world¹s largest Catholic fraternal service organization. “We now urge the Senate to move quickly and also pass a comprehensive ban on human cloning so President Bush can sign it into law, as he has already promised to do.”
