“On behalf of the Bishops, I am happy to announce that the Holy Father has accepted our invitation and will visit Kenya in November.”

This is the announcement made by Bishop Philip Anyolo of Homa Bay, president of the Kenyan episcopal conference, reported by the Fides news agency.

The letter, a copy of which was sent to Fides, describes the papal trip as a state visit.

“Dear Christians we will inform you of the exact details of the visit to welcome the Holy Father,” said Bishop Anyolo, asking the faithful to pray for the Pope’s visit and “for justice and peace based on God’s love” in Kenya.

According to Fides, the Pope will arrive in Nairobi on November 25 and will stay for two days. The Holy Father will then travel to Kampala (Uganda) and Bangui, capital of the Central African Republic.
