A joint statement released today from Vatican Television and the Italian channel RAI announced that coverage of the events will be transmitted by all interested telephone companies.

All cellular users who have the capacity to receive video transmission (UMTS) will be able to connect to both events.

In particular, Italian Telefonica 3 announced that the money made from the transmission of these events to videophones will be donated to two charitable projects: “50 Churches in Rome,” which funds the construction of churches on the city’s outskirts, and the Good Samaritan Foundation, which helps the ill, especially AIDS sufferers.
