Father John Anthony Kaiser, native of Minnesota, was brutally killed on Aug. 24, 2000, in the town of Navasha. He was an open critic of corruption.
The Catholic community will mark the six-year anniversary of his death with a Mass held at Mary, Mother of God in Ngong, at 10:30 a.m.
There will be a procession from St. Joseph Cathedral starting at 8:30 a.m., confirmed the Catholic Information Service for Africa.
The theme of the memorial is “Promote and Uphold Human Rights and Dignity.”
In February, the Kenya National Human Rights Commission conferred the Milele Lifetime Achievement award on Father Kaiser “for dedicating his life to the pursuit of human rights and justice for the Kenyan people.”
According to Catholic Information Service for Africa, an investigation into Father Kaiser’s death is still underway in Kenya.
