More Input Sought for ’08 Synod

VATICAN CITY, FEB. 4, 2007 ( Zenit.org).- The Holy See is seeking feedback from Church leaders to compile the working document for the upcoming world synod on Scripture.

The worldwide consultation is to prepare for the Oct. 5-26, 2008, synod. It will consist in sending the synod’s guidelines and a final questionnaire to bishops’ conferences, synods of Eastern Catholic Churches, the Roman Curia, and superiors-general of religious orders and congregations.

The General Secretariat of the Synod of Bishops announced the consultation in a communiqué issued last Thursday, in the wake of its recent preparatory meeting.

Officials of the Roman Curia, pastors from various continents and several expert theologians attended that meeting.

The synod assembly will meet next January to approve the first draft of the working document for the synod.
