Nuns in Galway Launch a Web Site

GALWAY, Ireland, OCT. 20, 2003 (Zenit.org).- The Poor Clares in this west-of-Ireland town have launched their own Web site to “help them to share an alternative perspective on life with the outside world.”

Sister Louis, the abbess of the order’s monastery at Nuns’ Island, said the site would offer hope “in a world overshadowed by consumerism,” BBC reported.

The launch of the Web site — www.poorclares.ie — has coincided with the 750th anniversary of the death of their founder, St Clare.

Among other things, the site incorporates a section on “prayer ideas for busy people.” The Poor Clares have been in Galway since 1642.
