Oblates of St. Francis de Sales Pick New Superior

ROME, SEPT. 3, 2006 (ZENIT.org).- The Oblates of St. Francis de Sales elected a new superior general during their recent general chapter in Germany.

Brazilian-born Father Aldino Kiesel was elected the 11th superior general on Aug. 5.

The priest had served as the regional superior of the Oblates in South America. His former region was named a province during the general chapter that saw his election.

Father Kiesel succeeds Father Louis Fiorelli, who completed his 12th year as superior general during the general chapter.

The Congregation of the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales, a community of clerics and brothers, was founded through the inspiration of the Venerable Mother Marie de Sales Chappuis and by Father Louis Brisson in Troyes, France, in 1873.
