Papal Visit Blog Launched

WASHINGTON, D.C., MARCH 13, 2008 (Zenit.org).- In anticipation of Benedict XVI’s visit to the United States, the country’s bishops have launched an insider’s view blog for the upcoming event.

The new Papal Visit Blog will include preparations for the April 15-20 papal visit, views from the pew during the visit, and post-visit reflections on the event.

The blog, orchestrated by the U.S. episcopal conference’s Department for Communications, was launched Monday.

The first entries include reflections on the event theme “Christ Our Hope,” by Helen Osman, underlining the courage needed in true Christian hope, and an observation by Pat Ryan Garcia, assistant director for Digital Media, that the Pope is blessing both baseball leagues on his visit, offering Mass in a National League stadium in Washington and an American League park in New York.

The U.S. Papal Visit Web site also has information for both the general public and media covering the event about venues, background information and teaching resources.
