POPE ASKS FOR PRAYERS DURING SPIRITUAL EXERCISES OF THE CURIA

VATICAN CITY, FEB. 27, 2012 (Zenit.org).- At Sunday’s Angelus Pope Benedict XVI entrusted to the prayer of the Church the whole “week of Spiritual Exercises, which I will begin this evening with my co-workers of the Roman Curia.”

The meditations will be on the topic: The Communion of Christians with God – “And our communion is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ” (1 John 1:3) and they will be given by Cardinal Laurent Monsengwo Pasinya, Archbishop of Kinshasa.

The Spiritual Exercises began on Sunday at 6:00 pm, in the Redemptoris Mater Chapel of the apostolic palace, and will end on Saturday, March 3.

The program for the Exercises is as follows:

Sunday, February 26, at 6:00 pm: Eucharistic Exposition, Celebration of Vespers, Introductory Meditation, Adoration and Eucharistic Benediction.

In the following days, at 9:00 am: Celebration of Lauds. Meditation. At 10:15 am: Celebration of Terce, Meditation. At 5:00 pm: Meditation. At 5:45 pm: Celebration of Vespers, Adoration and Eucharistic Benediction.

Saturday, March 3, at 9:00 am: Celebration of Lauds and Closing Meditation.

As is customary during the week of the Pope’s spiritual exercises, all the audiences of the Holy Father are suspended, including the General Audience of Wednesday, February 29.
