Pope Receives Deputy Prime Minister of Kuwait

VATICAN CITY, FEB. 10, 2004 (Zenit.org).- John Paul II received the Deputy Prime Minister of Kuwait, Sheikh Jaber Moubarak Al Hamad Al Sabah, in private audience.

The Vatican press office did not give details of the Pope’s meeting today with the sheikh, who is also Defense Minister. Kuwait has stable diplomatic relations with the Holy See.

Kuwait has just over 2 million inhabitants. The Statistical Yearbook of the Church says there are 155,000 Catholics in the country.
