Pope’s Message of Condolence to Victims of Gas Leak Explosion

Here is a translation of the telegram of condolence, signed by the Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, the Vatican Secretary of State, on behalf of Pope Francis to the Archbishop of Rosario, Argentina, to express his closeness to the families of the victims of the explosion due to a gas leak, which devastated a ten story building.

The Holy Father, deeply grieved on learning the painful news of the violent explosion that occurred in the city of Rosario, which has caused numerous victims and wounded, as well as material damages, offers suffrages for the eternal repose of the deceased, and elevates fervent prayers to the Lord that he will grant his consolation to those affected by the tragedy, inspiring in all sentiments of Christian hope and fraternal solidarity. Likewise, I ask Your Excellency to transmit the profound sympathy of His Holiness to the families of the deceased and to express to the wounded and those affected his paternal solicitude and closeness. With these sentiments he imparts the comfort of his Apostolic Blessing.
