ROME, APRIL 27, 2012 (Zenit.org).- At 11 am on Thursday, May 3, Benedict XVI will visit the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, at its headquarters in Rome, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the institution of the A. Gemelli Faculty of Medicine and Surgery.

The Holy Father’s meeting with the university community will take place in the Square in front of the Auditorium of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery.

Benedict XVI will be welcomed by Cardinal Angelo Scola and other university officials, and will then give his address.

It is the fifth time that Benedict XVI visits the Catholic University and the A. Gemelli Polyclinic since the beginning of his pontificate.

“Once again the Holy Father gifts us with his presence and his word, and the whole University community is profoundly grateful to him for the care with which he follows the life of our Athenaeum,” said pro-rector Anelli.

“We are certain that the teaching His Holiness will wish to give us on this special occasion will be a precious guide to understand better and live more intensely the mission entrusted to the University of Italian Catholics.”

The Pope’s visit is taking place in coincidence with the first Day for Research, organized by the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, titled “A Life for Research, Research for Life,” which will begin at 2:30 pm in the Athenaeum’s Auditorium.
