Vatican Spokesman Announces Thursday’s Encounter With Pontiff Was Requested by Presidential Council of the Episcopal Conference of Venezuela

In a private audience on Thursday, June 8, 2017, Pope Francis will receive the Presidential Council of the Episcopal Conference of Venezuela.
Director of the Holy See Press Office, Greg Burke, made this announcement in a statement the evening of Monday, June 5.
“The encounter,” the Vatican spokesman says in the statement, “was requested by the Episcopal Conference itself, which desires to speak to the Pope about the situation in Venezuela.”
