Inmates at the “Regina Coeli” prison in Rome will receive a special Easter gift from Pope Francis tomorrow: 1,100 pocket-sized Gospels.

The books, which also contain the Acts of the Apostles, are the same copies that the Holy Father gave to those attending the Angelus address in St. Peter’s Square on April 6th, and to the faithful at St. Gregory the Great Church in Rome on the same day.

The pocket-sized Gospels will be distributed to the detainees on Holy Wednesday by Archbishop Konrad Krajewski, the Papal Almoner.

On Holy Thursday, Archbishop Krajewski will celebrate the Mass of the Lord’s Supper at the “Isola dell’Amore Fraterno” (Island of Fraternal Love), an association that provides assistance to detainees, ex-convicts and individuals estranged from society or their families. (J.A.E.)
