Priest Who Combats Pederasty Is Threatened

ROME, FEB. 20, 2002 (Zenit.org).- Authorities has asked the Italian Interior Minister to step up protection for a priest who has been threatened because of his work in combating pederastic networks.

The office of the public prosecutor of Syracuse, in Sicily, is investigating a new series of death threats received recently by Father Fortunato Di Noto, founder and president of Rainbow Telephone, an organization that assists young victims of sexual abuse.

The petition for the protection of the priest´s life was presented to the Italian government by Fabrizio Montanari, president of the Permanent Security Observatory, an organization that embraces representatives of the Police of different European countries, and by Antonio Marziale, president of the Italian Observatory on the Rights of Minors.

In 2001, Father Di Noto presented 12,114 complaints against pederastic Web page sites.
