Incumbent Paul Kagame won the presidential elections Monday with 95% of the vote, sparking outcries of fraud from the opposition and other sectors of civil society.
Monsignor Callixte Twagirayezu, secretary of the Rwandan Catholic bishops’ conference, told the Misna agency that the “proportions of the victory seem really strange to me.”
The priest believes that in the legislative elections next Sept. 29, “Kagame’s Patriotic Front will win and we will have a Parliament of one color, without political weight.”
