ROME, DEC. 21, 2012 (Zenit.org).- There was a time when the universe was dark and cold. And the Creator lit up the stars. The land was uninhabited and hostile, and the Lord has brought it to life. Humanity was a slave of idols and despair. And then, God sent his Son.

The birth of Jesus changed the humanity’s destiny. For this reason we celebrate Christmas. It is a time to remind the world that the Savior is born; that he who became man and sacrificed himself so that we may live in hope, to give us the eternal life that continues onto the new generations.

And ZENIT is trying to let the world know the good news that is renewed each and every day.

Confident that hope will sustain you and accompany you even in the face of difficult trials, I wish you, your families and your friends a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year full of graces.

In joy and peace,

Antonio Gaspari
