ROME, MAY 20, 2011 (Zenit.org).- An international film festival with the Vatican’s sponsorship has given its awards — Silver Fish — honoring an Italian movie as best film, and a Mexican as best director.
The Mirabile Dictu International Film Festival concluded this week, with Silver Fish going to the categories of best film, best documentary, best short film, best lead, and best director, as well as a lifetime achievement award. The awards ceremony was held Thursday in Rome.
Silver Fish went to:
— Best film: “Duns Scoto”
— Best documentary: “La Última Cima”
— Best short film: “Kavi”
— Best lead: Adriano Braidotti in “Duns Scoto”
— Best director: José Luis Gutierrez for “Marcelino Pan y Vino”
Remo Girone was recognized for lifetime achievement.
This year, the second for Mirabile Dictu, 746 films competed. Mirabile Dictu honors films that promote universal moral values and positive models.
