This was the message the Pope gave 2,500 representatives of the Italian Confederation of Trade, who attended today’s general audience in St. Peter’s Square. The group is celebrating its 60th anniversary.
“Dear friends,” the Holy Father said, “I hope that your business enterprises will never separate in their activity the economy and the solidarity market to contribute always to social growth.”
Sergio Billè, president of the trade confederation, said: “The call of the Supreme Pontiff to a market economy that always assumes the principles of solidarity not only is something that can be shared, but it is very opportune.”
