During a press conference at the Foreign Press Association headquarters in Rome, Jesuit Father Federico Lombardi, director of the Holy See Press Office, stated that the Pope’s upcoming trip to Brazil for World Youth Day will be the only international trip for Pope Francis this year.

“I invite you to not expect other trips abroad this year,” Father Lombardi said according to a report by Vatican Radio.

The director of the Holy See Press Office also stated that it is possible that the Holy Father’s first encyclical would be published this year, considering Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI had prepared material on the topic of faith.

According to Father Lombardi, the Pope Emeritus, who is currently living in Castel Gandolfo, is expected to move to the Monastery of Mater Ecclesiae in Vatican City sometime between late April and early May.

Pope Francis, however, will continue to reside in the Casa Santa Marta, where “he is very well settled”, Fr. Lombardi said. “At the moment, he does not seem to want to change his dwelling, even if a final decision has not been made.”
