I’m old enough to remember cross burnings in the yards of blacks and Catholics. The number of black churches that have been burned are in the hundreds. Burning things seem to produce unexpected and long remembered results. In the case of Terry Jones’ Qur’an burning, a solidarity between Christians and Muslims has taken place that will be the foundation of future peace and respect, not quite what was intended by Jones and his followers.
