A four-part DVD series on the Eucharist and the Holy Mass, produced by the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Sacraments, is now available.

The series, called “From the Visible to the Invisible: The Eucharist and the Holy Mass” was produced by HM Television in conjuction with the congregation.

Two new videos in the series have just been released: “The Eucharist” and “The Holy Mass.” Videos on “The Liturgy” and “Eucharistic Adoration” were released previously.

“The Eucharist” unveils this sacrament in its different aspects of Sacrifice, Memorial, Banquet, Thanksgiving.

“The Holy Mass” offers an in-depth look at each one of the parts of the Eucharistic celebration.

Each one of the programs has an approximate running time of 30 minutes and features interviews with Cardinals Antonio Cañizares (Prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Sacraments), Malcom Ranjith (Archbishop of Colombo, Sri Lanka), Raymond Leo Burke (Prefect of the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura); Bishops Marc Aillet (Diocese of Bayonne, France), Celso Morga (Secretary of the Congregation for the Clergy), and Julián López Martín (Diocese of León, Spain); Monsignors Juan Miguel Ferrer Grenesce (Undersecretary of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Sacraments), John Cihak and Jean Pierre Kwambamba (Papal Masters of Ceremonies); and Fathers Juan Jose Silvestre (Professor at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross in Rome, Italy), Carlos Díaz Azarola (Rector of the Seminary of Getafe, Spain), and Francisco Javier Fernández Perea (Spiritual Director of the Seminary of Getafe, Spain).

“We need the Eucharist in order to be Christian. We need to live the Eucharist. We need to be fed with the Body of Christ, which is what makes us one with Him and thereby allows us to enter inside the Church, which is the Sacrament of intimate union with God and with the entire human race.” (Cardinal Antonio Cañizares)

“The Eucharist, as Jesus desired that it be instituted, is truly a sacrifice. Namely, because it is the representation – in the sense of “making-present”- of Jesus’ sacrifice on the Cross. And so that we might partake of it, immediately before offering Himself on the Cross, He instituted the Eucharist to allow us to enter into that sacrifice.” (Bishop Marc Aillet)

“We know that Our Lord has made Himself present, really present in His very being on the altar in order to have communion with us. In other words, to give us Himself that we be united with Him in the most perfect way possible for us on this earth,  through the reception of the Body of Christ in Holy Communion. So with the finality of the Eucharist is first and foremost to be consumed by us”. (Cardinal Raymond Burke)
