VATICAN CITY, DEC. 1, 2010 (Zenit.org).- The reevangelization of the secular world will be the theme of three Advent reflections to be given this month by Capuchin Father Raniero Cantalamessa, preach of the Pontifical Household.

The preacher will give the first reflection this Friday, in the presence of Benedict XVI and the Curia in the Redemptoris Mater Chapel of the Apostolic Palace. The theme of the reflections is “‘Take courage, I Have Conquered the World’ (John 16:33): Toward a Reevangelization of the Secular World.”

The other two reflections will be given on Dec. 10 and 17.

Father Cantalamessa has taken as inspiration for the meditations the foundation of the Pontifical Council for the New Evangelization, and the thought of Blessed John Henry Newman. He will seek to identify the obstacles present in modern culture that prevent the acceptance of the Good News.
