Web Page Dedicated to June 3 Event

VATICAN CITY, MAY 9, 2006 (Zenit.org).- The Pontifical Council for the Laity has set up a Web page with information on Benedict XVI’s forthcoming meeting with ecclesial movements and new communities.

The page, at www.laici.org, has information on the encounter planned for June 3, the vigil of Pentecost, in St. Peter’s Square.

The site gives details on the world congress that will precede the encounter. That congress will take place in Rocca de Papa, near Rome, May 31-June 2, on the theme “The Beauty of Being Christians and the Joy of Communicating It.”

The first such meeting of new ecclesial entities was convoked by Pope John Paul II for Pentecost 1998.

The Web page on the event says that this meeting “must be a further step toward the goal of full ‘ecclesial maturity'” of these new entities.

“Leaders of some one hundred Movements and Communities have already expressed their gratitude to the Holy Father for the invitation and their willingness to collaborate in carrying out this important ecclesial event,” says the page.
