WYD and the West in Pope's Prayers for August

VATICAN CITY, JULY 29, 2011 (Zenit.org).- As Benedict XVI travels to Madrid in a few weeks, he will be supported by the prayers of all those who join him in his monthly intentions. In August, his general intention is for youth and the fruits of World Youth Day in Spain.

The Apostleship of Prayer announced the intentions chosen by the Pope for the upcoming month. His general intention is: “That World Youth Day in Madrid may encourage young people throughout the world to have their lives rooted and built up in Christ.”

His apostolic intention, meanwhile, calls to mind one of the priorities of his pontificate: the new evangelization.

The Pontiff’s apostolic intention for August is: “That Western Christians may be open to the action of the Holy Spirit and rediscover the freshness and enthusiasm of their faith.”
