Organ Donations Encouraged by Pope

VATICAN CITY, FEB. 7, 2001 (Zenit.org).- John Paul II encouraged the work of organizations that promote the donation of organs, when he met with thousands of pilgrims in the general audience today.

At the end of the meeting, the Pope greeted a large group of pilgrims who belong to the Italian Association of Liver Transplants.

«In thanking you for your visit, dear brothers, I join you in the hope that many other patients will be able to continue to live thanks to a greater number of organ donations,» the Holy Father said.
