The president reiterated his commitment Sunday during the celebration of the Day of the Unborn, in the national baseball stadium. «Every baby in the maternal womb has the right to be born, and the state has the duty to protect him,» Alemán said.

Archbishop Renato Martino, the Vatican´s permanent observer at the United Nations, celebrated the Mass. He reminded the faithful that every year there are 45 million abortions in the world. «Those of us who regard human life as sacred have the duty to protect and support it in all the stages of its development, from conception until natural death,» he said.
