Help Still Sought for Peru Quake Victims

LIMA, Peru, JULY 16, 2001 (Zenit.org).- The Peruvian bishops´ conference is continuing its aid campaign in the south, which is still recovering from the June 23 earthquake.

The conference reports that 969 tons of aid have been distributed from Caritas-Peru´s warehouses in Caravelí, Arequipa, Camana, Moquegua and Tacna. In addition, 112 tons of miscellaneous items, such as kitchen and cleaning equipment and mattresses, have been distributed.

Quake victims still need food, blankets, plastics and construction materials. Information about donations is available at postmaster@caritas.org.pe.
