Kenya Bishop, 49, Quits for Health Reasons

NAIROBI, Kenya, FEB. 25, 2002 (Zenit.org).- Bishop Linus Okok, 49, of Homa Bay has resigned for reasons of health, a spokeswoman for the papal nuncio told the Catholic Information Service for Africa.

John Paul II consequently has appointed Bishop Philip Anyolo of the neighboring Diocese of Kericho as the apostolic administrator.

Linus Okok was appointed bishop on Nov. 12, 1993, the same day Homa Bay was made a diocese. It was until then part of the Kisii Diocese.
