Most of the indigenous priests who had fled the war-torn diocese and went into exile over the past 10 years are now back.

In a message to the Catholic Information Service of Africa, Father Matthew Minisare, a diocesan spokesman, said that practically all the parishes that were deserted now have priests to celebrate Mass for the people.

Bishop Joseph Abangite Gasi presided over the celebrations June 30 at Yambio, a western-equatorial provincial center.

The community will make contributions for the support of the priests throughout the diocese, Father Minisare said in his message.
