In a letter published by the bishops at the end of their plenary assembly, they explain that the nation is called to cast a responsible vote, conscious of the role that Poland must play within Europe, and the significance of this access for the nation’s future.

The letter, which the episcopal conference requested be read in all parishes on June 1, reminds the faithful that during John Paul II’s last trip to Poland he encouraged his countrymen to join the European community.

«Clearly, the Pope wants a place for Poland in European structures; in defense of the faith, of religion and of Christian morality; in a united Europe,» the letter states in a passage read over Vatican Radio.
