Children's Bible Now in Assamese

ROME, OCT. 1, 2004 (Zenit.org).- A children’s Bible entitled «God Speaks to His Children» has been published in Assamese, the native language of 15 million Indians in the northeastern states of Assam and Meghalaya.

The children’s Bible is a project of Aid to the Church in Need, the Germany-based Catholic group of pontifical right.

The 6,000 copies of the first edition will be distributed among Assamese-speaking Catholics.

By year-end, the children’s Bible is expected to have been translated into 141 languages. More than 40 million copies have been distributed in 115 countries.
